Muri Lelu was created for the woman who spends a lifetime exploring the abundance of hidden beauty the world has to offer.
A Brief History of Cannabis
First cultivated over 10,000 years ago, cannabis has long been integral to humans. Medicinal forms of the plant were available on apothecary shelves throughout the 19th century, but from the mid-1930s on, the U.S. regulated cannabis as a drug nationwide and outlawed it under the 1970 Controlled Substances Act. The lingering consequences for those charged under law is an area of Muri Lelu’s attention — we donate a portion of sales to legal organizations fighting unjust drug-related imprisonments.
Today, research in support of cannabis use has propelled a groundswell of legalization. Muri Lelu is navigating the legal complexities to offer two product categories: skincare infused with hemp oil CBD (a non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid); and skincare infused with CBD and THC (the psychoactive best known for making you “high”). The hemp line is available to ship to all states where legal. Our THC line is coming soon.
Why Is Cannabis Good for Us, and How Does It Work?
Cannabis’ therapeutic properties are due to its 80-plus phytocannabinoids, or plant cannabinoids — potent, naturally occurring antioxidant compounds. Phytocannabinoids are similar to the human body’s internal endocannabinoid system — our own biological network of receptors that regulate essential functions and keep us active and healthy.
Just like a key fits into a lock, cannabis phytocannabinoids (like CBD and THC) activate receptors in our brains and body, triggering overall wellness benefits from increased relaxation, to reduced inflammation and pain.
The most effective “key” is high quality, whole flower cannabis. It harnesses the widest range of phytocannabinoids and complementary terpenes, helping them join forces in a phenomenon known as the “entourage effect,” multiplying the plant's therapeutic benefits.
Does Cannabis Skincare Really Work — and Will It Get Me High?
While cannabis has been consumed for millennia, its beautifying superpowers for skin are still largely untapped. We love it because it’s an all-in-one anti-aging complexion perfector that may soothe inflammation, fight blemishes, reduce puffiness and balance oil production for calm and glowing skin, all while naturally-occurring fatty acids hydrate and lock in moisture.

What Exactly Are Terpenes, and Will I Smell Like Weed?
Terpenes are organic hydrocarbons that naturally occur in the essential oils of aromatic flora, including cannabis. These flavor and fragrance compounds have uniquely therapeutic properties that are enhanced when present along with phytocannabinoids — the “entourage effect” we talked about earlier.
The flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant produce over 200 terpenes, each with a unique scent fingerprint that give different strains their distinctive odors — from floral and earthy, to piney and peppery. Terpenes work synergistically with both cannabinoids and the body’s endocannabinoid receptors, triggering different outcomes for optimal skin health and vitality. So while CBD may get more attention, terpenes are equally important when it comes to cannabis, with each profile providing unique benefits.
Muri Lelu is loaded with complementary terpene-rich essential oils to deliver potent cannabinoid benefits, with an evocative fragrance that makes every application an opportunity to pause, inhale and exhale. So yes, upon application you may enjoy a subtle, temporary aura of mystery and sensuality. No, you will not smell like weed.
Where Does Muri Lelu Source Cannabis?
Muri Lelu is committed to using the world’s finest, purest and most potent cannabis extract. We source from sustainable, organically grown hemp plants tested for heavy metals, pesticides, and microbes.
Our full flower extract is premium, full-spectrum and preserves all beneficial elements of the plant, including cannabinoids, terpenes, chlorophyll, flavonoids and fatty acids. We don't use CBD isolate, preferring to leave the cannibas extract as close to its natural state as possible. Think of it as the difference between eating an orange, or taking a vitamin C supplement. Our extract also contains .3% or less of THC — the trace amount permitted under the law.Shop Now
